From countless rehearsals to late-night runs, the students of the Plano Senior Theater program have made sure the comedic production, entitled “Chemical Imbalance,” is exactly what it deserves to be.
“Working as a lead role in Chemical Imbalance was a dream come true,” senior Dawson McClure said. “I found the show very funny, and starting the school year with a farce show allowed me to make so many new friends in theater which I’ll forever cherish.”
The students have truly embraced the spirit of teamwork and collaboration. Working tirelessly, these young actors and actresses have dedicated countless hours to perfecting their performances, honing their acting skills, and bringing their characters to life on stage.
“The best part about theater is honestly the people,” ensemble cast member Elisabeth Summer said. “We all grow together as a community throughout the production of the show and I am so grateful for the amazing friends I made during this process.”
Comedic plays often rely on clever wordplay, witty dialogue, and humorous situations to elicit laughter from the audience. They can range from light-hearted and silly to satirical and thought-provoking. Improvisation plays a significant role in comedic theater. Many comedic plays incorporate improvisational techniques, allowing actors to think quickly on their feet and create spontaneous moments of humor.
“Comedy should look easy and unplanned even though it takes an enormous amount of effort,” Plano Theater head director and teacher Clay Wheeler said. “I am so proud of and amazed by these students for putting in the work to make this show a truly funny one.”
