Planoettes host annual Spring Show
The Planoettes, American Dance/Drill Team National Competition winners, are hosting their spring show on April 10-12. After winning the competition on March 29, the drill team only had a few weeks to put together and finalize a show.
This year, the show’s theme is A Moment in Time. The types of dances are similar every year, but the changes in theme bring new songs, special effects and costumes. With music from Florence and the Machine, Beyoncé, Empire of the Sun and Adele, junior Shanze Noorani is eager to showcase the various routines the team has been working on.
“We have a lot of dance styles to show, like jazz, military, contemporary and of course our kick finale,” Noorani said. “I’m really looking forward to performing in front of friends and family, rather than just in front of judges.”
Because Spring Show is one of the last performances for the seniors like Chloe Bresnahan, it is said to be a mix of emotions.
“I’ve been in drill team for three years,” Bresnahan said. “It’s a pretty bittersweet realization to come to, but even though this part of my life is ending, I am so excited to move on and go to college.”
Through all the practices and performances, the team has achieved success not only in their competitions, but in team-building as well.
“I’m not looking forward to saying goodbye to all the seniors,” Noorani said. “We really have grown so much closer as a team this past year.”
