Game 10: Lewisville
November 6, 2015
To help Wildcat fans out, the Wildcat Tales will be posting a weekly preview of each Plano Senior football opponent prior to their clash with the Wildcats.
To finish the season, the Wildcat Tales staff introduces Plano’s week eleven opponents, the Lewisville Fighting Farmers.
School – Lewisville High School.
Location – Lewisville, Texas (Population: 101,074). 22 miles W. of Plano Senior.
Division – UIL 6A – District 6.
2014 Record – 4-6 (6th in 6A – District 6), missed playoffs.
Current Record – 4-5 (5th in 6A – District 6).
Last Meeting with Plano Senior – Lost to Plano Senior 45-7 in 2014.
Analysis – The Fighting Farmers were eliminated from playoff contention on Thursday night when Hebron defeated McKinney Boyd 42-28, giving the Hawks the final playoff spot in District 6-6A. This means that Lewisville will extend their playoff drought for yet another season, as the Fighting Farmers have not reached the postseason since 2007.
Regardless, Lewisville will seek to end their season on a high when they take on the Wildcats on Senior Night at Tom Kimbrough Stadium.
The Lewisville offense is led by a dual-threat quarterback in the form of senior Aubreion Bobb, who has more passing and rushing yards than any other Farmer player. Bobb’s 1,062 passing yards are complimented by his stellar touchdown to interception ratio, which currently sits at 3.5 : 1. Senior running back Dontae McGee and junior running back Kwame Mickels both help Bobb with the Lewisville rushing attack, as the three players have combined to score 11 rushing touchdowns so far this season.
The Lewisville defense has struggled in its first season under new defensive coordinator Austin Kaehn, allowing over 30 points and 380 yards on average each game. Senior linebackers Deleoon Voss and Shaq Miller have played big parts for the Farmers this season, but an inability to find depth at the cornerback position has continually caused Lewisville problems.
One way or the other, a losing streak will be snapped on Friday night, as either Lewisville will end their two game losing run or Plano will win their first game since Sept. 25. Last week’s narrow 36-31 defeat at Flower Mound Marcus showed that the Wildcats have discovered their scoring touch again, and they have a final opportunity to display it against the Fighting Farmers on Senior Night.
