Hannah Damon’s prom dress

With prom rolling around, many girls already have gone out to the stores to find perfect dresses to wear for the big night. Whether it is buying the dress at a store or online, the girls were set on a mission to find a dress that they would fall completely in love with. Although finding the perfect dress has not always been so easy in the past, Hannah Damon bought her dress for $395.

“I’m super unlucky when it comes to finding dresses because I’m so picky,” Damon said. “Usually I’ll go to a store with high hopes, and then I can’t find anything that I absolutely love. For prom, I found my dress the first time I looked because the worker directed me to the one of a kind dress rack and pulled one out for me. It was the only one and in my size, so there was no doubt that it was my dress.”

Many of the girls  had a checklist of what they imagined the perfect dress for prom to look like.  Senior Chloe Magruder had her eye on finding a dress that would look good with her coloring.

“I, of course, wanted a long dress that was a color that looks good with my pale skin tone and blonde hair,” Magruder said. “I also knew that I wanted it to be some kind of blue with a bunch of sparkles.”

For senior Sarah Connell, it was important to find a dress suitable for her height.

“A worry going into dress shopping was that the dress would be too long because I’m short,” Connell said.

While some girls ventured all over town searching for a dress, Magruder found her dress on Promgirl.com for $200 – the same place she had found her homecoming dress. Her sister later found a boutique in New York City that made the dress using Magruder’s exact measurements.

“I fell in love with the dress when it came in the mail,” Magruder said.“Prom dresses are so much classier than homecoming dresses because they are long, elegant and beautiful.”

However, some of the girls such as Connell had a limit to how much they were willing to spend. Connell bought her dress for $65.  However, Damon said she was able to pick a dress and not worry about the price too much.

“I was going to keep it under 100 because I didn’t want to spend a lot on a dress I would only wear once because it’s pointless,” Connell said.

Unlike Connell, price didn’t dictate Damon’s choice.

“This time around I would go into it with the attitude of finding what I love and seeing where it goes price wise,” Damon said. “This was my first time going to a school dance and I was more willing to splurge.”
