The Texas State Fair has rolled back into town for this fall season. Established in 1886, the State Fair is one of, if not the most iconic part of Texas.
The Texas State Fair grabs the attention of people across the state and even into other states. Especially during the Red River Showdown, the yearly game between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners, people from other states travel to experience the fair and enjoy the day with friends and family.
The food at the state fair is always different and intrigues lots of fairgoers to try it. Each year, they hold a contest for foods that will go into the State Fair concessions. Some of this year’s new additions include a bao bun taco, loaded brisket fries or tater tots, oreo-topped churros, and deep-fried Vietnamese pho.
The State Fair also holds lots of carnival games and amusement rides. Shooting basketballs and throwing rings around glass milk cartons to win prizes always catches a fairgoer’s eye. There are also amusement rides, not huge amusement rides, but there are typically roller coasters and pendulum rides.
50 students on campus were asked if they were planning to attend the Texas State Fair this year. 28% said yes, 48% answered maybe, while 24% answered probably not or no.
This year’s State Fair runs from now until October 22, 2023.
