Wildcat Tales: What made you want to run for SCP?
Chris Picklesimer: As cliché as this may sound, I simply want to make a difference. Plano is such a great town, and Plano is the best school in the best town, so I feel that I should do my part to help out. On the road that we’ve been going on I don’t see the school reaching its full potential, which is why I want to step in and make things better.
Wildcat Tales: Who is your biggest role model?
Picklesimer: I would like to say Napoleon. He was smart enough to manipulate other countries into his sphere of influence without even having to send in his army. And after he was beaten, he didn’t give up on his dream or his ambition and continued to fight for what he thought was right and most beneficial to the people of Europe. That type of courage and endurance is what I strive to obtain.
Wildcat Tales: What is one thing you want to change at Plano Senior as Senior Class President?
Picklesimer: As SCP my job is to do what the senior class wants, and the senior class wants better school events; events that people will talk about . To accomplish this I’m going to implement fundraisers to make sure it happens. Also the air conditioning, seriously. On some days you can walk into A building and you’ll feel like you’re freezing. Then you walk into B building and you’ll feel like you’re in northern Africa. This simply will not do. That being said, I think Plano is fantastic enough that it doesn’t need to be changed. We just got ranked the second best school in America after Beverly Hills, so not bad.
Wildcat Tales: What makes you the best candidate for SCP?
Picklesimer: I’m a man of the people. I’m completely comfortable with a random person coming up and talking to me about their problems with the school, and even about life. I can hear people’s problems and concerns and act on them, and in reality that’s what the senior class president is supposed to do, and that is something I can do. As for other basic things, I’ve held multiple leadership positions in both my church and as a scout. I go to leadership and communication seminars, and in general I know how to get things done fast, precisely and well.
Wildcat Tales: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Picklesimer: The power to stop and start time while still being able to move around in stopped time, that’s the best super power and not only is there no way to beat it but there are also limitless uses for it as well. You would be able to walk on air seeing that the air particles are frozen in time; you could travel anywhere, whether that is space or down the street, without losing a second in real time. Obviously I’ve thought about this at least a little. I could stop wars before they even begin, and stop terrorist attacks and save lives as the attacks happen.
Wildcat Tales: What is your favorite class? Why?
Picklesimer: Debate hands down, all around. A lot of the subjects in school are important, of course, but debate is simply fantastic in my opinion. It doesn’t just give me a chance to state my opinions and argue, it pushes me to learn about the world around me. I get to learn about all the amazing and seemingly impossible things that are happening on the other side of the world. Not only that but I learn skills in that class that I’ll be able to use for the rest of my life.
