The 2024 prom season promised to be nothing short of spectacular, as students prepared to step out in style, creating memories that will last a lifetime. The essence of prom lies not only in the celebration of academic achievements, but also in the opportunity to shine on the dance floor.
“It’s always a great time for the students to exercise some responsibility but also experience a fun prom night,” Associate Principal Andy Jacob said.
As the night began I was incredibly entertained with the glitz and glam of the getting ready process. Being with all my guys and girlfriends, getting ready in our most dazzled fashion choices while listening to our collaborated hype playlist had to be one of the highlights of the night.
Then, we began the challenge of taking pictures and battling dinner reservations with big prom groups. Thankfully enough, the Plano/Dallas area was fully prepared with plenty of photo opportunities, such as Legacy Tower, Flippen Park or Hall Park. Not only but also delicious dinner places such as Mexican Sugar, Sixty Vines and even the Loyal Legacy Food Hall.
“My favorite part of the night is seeing all the students come in all dolled up in their fun suits and dresses,” Fashion Design teacher Jessica Medley said. “It always reminds me of how excited I was for my own prom night.”
Now for the most exciting part of the night, the dance. The dance took place at the Plano Event Center, with extravagant decorations. The room was filled with senior students who danced and mingled as the anticipation grew heavy for the announcement of prom King and Queen.
Then as the music lowered, we all turned in silence as we waited for the announcement for honorary prom King and Queen, and the senior Prom King and Queen. To our excitement, they announced Ryan Walsh as Honorary King, Priya Jackson as Honorary Queen, Christine Clay as Senior King, and Danielle Bennet as Senior Queen. We all cheered and cleared the dance floor for them to celebrate their win by a beautiful couples dance.
“We were looking forward to having a great time with our classmates one last time before we all go our separate ways,” Danielle Bennet said. “And obviously winning prom court!”
