The Marching Area competition on Nov. 2 concluded the Plano Senior High School band’s 2024 marching season, with their last performance of this year’s show ‘Paradise Found.’ After months of intense rehearsals and performances, the band was able to showcase their potential at the event.
“The end of marching season was an extraordinary time for all,” marching band president, senior Luke Scott Rojas said. “I liked playing in the stands at football games, especially the West game.”
After advancing from regionals, the band was able to make it to the Area competition, where they would have the opportunity to make it to the State competition. Unfortunately, they were not able to make it to the next round of competition, with just two places short of finals.
“I felt fulfilled, and very proud of the work we had done throughout the season,” junior Natalia Verduzco stated. “The best parts were the performances because we were finally able to show off everything we had worked so hard to accomplish.”
From making new friends and starting new traditions to sharing inside jokes, the hard work invested into this competition marked the end for the memorable marching season. The hours spent in the afternoon heat practicing, and the bus rides to and from performances will stay with the students for many years to come.
“The conversations and hangouts at Whataburger after our games and competitions, and getting to know one another this season were the most rewarding experiences,” marching band vice president, senior Lauren Mueller said.
This marching season has been filled with moments for everyone to be able to grow as a team, and even though they were disappointed for not making it to finals, they were still grateful for where they were able to make it. The team still showed supportive sportsmanship and cheered on the other bands who were able to advance to finals.
“Seeing the other bands advance was just an honor,” junior Jordan Ball said “We’re so proud of them and proud of ourselves for how much we were able to achieve.”
