Most people have played, or at least heard of, League of Legends on PC, but not everyone has played this game so much that they have developed strong strategies. Expert players know when to to do certain moves against all types of different characters. Members of the new League of Legends Club are trying to get on this level.

“We plan games,” club member junior Hanson Yong said. “It’s so we can get to know each other and, most importantly, have fun.”

League of Legends is a fast-paced, competitive online RPG game. Two teams comprised of characters, known as champions, battle head to head. An ever-expanding amount of champions to choose from is what helps that game continue to feel new and exciting.

“I thought it would be fun to meet and talk to more people who were interested in the game, like I was,” Yong said. “While my close friends and I already talk about the game a lot together, I wanted to meet other people who were as interested in it as I am.”

With the League of Legends World Championship going on, the club is currently making predictions about bracket outcomes.

“It’s fun knowing that everybody around you knows a lot about the game,” club member junior Logan Friedman said. “We like to think of League of Legends as its own sport, like football and basketball.”

Members form teams to play in matches against other teams. Members are able to talk strategies with those who enjoy the game as much, if not more, than themselves.

“Anyone who joins our club would enjoy it immediately,” Friedman said. “I know I did and I’ve met lots of cool people along the way.”
