Halloween is an exciting time of year. In Plano, you can always find somewhere to experience the festivities. There are countless activities like haunted houses, giant pumpkin patches, scary street life and entire neighborhoods that all come together and create an experience like no other.
Students around Plano Senior expressed their excitement and favorite things to do on the night off.
“I love Halloween, I like going on rides and Halloween-themed parks,” Junior Noah Vazquez said. “I also like trick or treating in neighborhoods that give out candy and are decorated with good decorations and care.”
This year, Singletree Trail, one of the most popular Halloween streets, will be closed off for residents to go to see. Thousands of dollars are spent annually on intricate designs and spooky decorations.
“Halloween is a great way for the community to come together to raise money and give back to the community along with giving them a show.” Residents of Singletree Trail said.
As far as haunted houses go, Dark Hour is one of the most highly rated attractions in DFW, heavily haunted and reviewed. The main haunt is definitely an experience.
“I love the different themes they have around each corner,” Customer Daniel Caesar said. “The amount of details in each room as well as the use of numerous animatronics really set this haunt above all others.”
In 2019, Plano was ranked #20 for Halloween spirit according to WalletHub’s 2019 Best Places for Halloween. With the arrival of new events every year, Plano has risen to #18 as of 2023. Halloween isn’t just a holiday in Plano. It’s a reputation and tradition among the citizens. Likewise, students and staff expressed their appreciation and commitment to Halloween.
“This year is going to have great events, candy, family fun and more.” Junior Dylan Looper said. ”Halloween is important to me along with being my favorite celebration. Let’s hope this is a good year for Plano and a great Halloween day as well.”
