Expect the upcoming PSHS Senior Class President race to come down to the wire
The competition between classmates is challenging and requires candidates to devote time, creativity, and cash to a successful campaign. That being said, candidates this year have hosted car washes, run clubs, and sand volleyball all while maintaining social media accounts to reach their projected audience.
“As Plano’s next senior class president I will organize a Winter formal” Candidate Samira Redzepagic said. “host many senior fun activities like a car chalk day, catering, sporting events and many more.”
Candidates need to connect to students and pull votes from all sides of the social spectrum. Redzepagic is a member of Stuco with experience in serving the student body and her peers.
“As Senior Class president, it is very important to not only target my circle of friends but our entire student body as a whole. I want to include everyone!” Redzepagic said
Student Class President holds many responsibilities throughout the senior class and allows candidates to fulfill their promises, develop skills, and mature their leadership. Candidate Logan Brower is a member of the student council and is passionate about art and the art department.
“I’m trying to get voices heard who are not traditional in the student council,” Brower said. “Everybody in our senior class has ideas that should be shared.”
Becoming SCP is not for the faint of heart and each individual running all have their motives for wanting the role. Soha Dell is a member of Nhs and the Health Advocacy Club.
“I wanted to run for class president so that I could help with most of the school’s activities and guarantee the students a great senior year,” Dell said. “I want to use my leadership skills to the best of my ability.”
To get the upper hand, some candidates have even created slogans and sayings to get an edge on their opponents.
“If you want a better senior experience you know who to vote for. be so for real, vote for Rushil,” Rushil Doshi said.
Doshi, a member of orchestra and varsity football, wants to put an emphasis on the culture of Plano and reinstate traditions that Plano alumni enacted.
“When I was young I wanted to go to football games and be a part of the culture,” Doshi said. “I want to bring back Plano traditions going forward.”
Voting opens on April 11 following the speeches
