A bond has been proposed to the city of Plano to make improvements to schools and facilities. Registered voters will be able to vote for the bond during early voting from Oct. 24 – Nov. 4 or on election day on Nov. 8 to decide if the bond goes through. The nearly $1.5 billion bond will be used to make improvements within the district.

VATRE Proposition A is a bond that will cover funding for staff and programs. This bond will ask voters to approve OFM, a modified tax rate to increase revenue for teacher and staff salary and student programs. This revenue will also be used to maintain current staff.

Bond Proposition B will cover improvements to the school security and make major school renovations such as a replacement school for Haggard Middle School and renovations to Plano Senior High School, Williams High School and Clark High School. There will also be minor renovations to other schools like Plano East Senior High School and Plano West Senior High School. The bond will add extra security cameras and make the school more fortified and prepared for school emergencies.

Bond Proposition C will be used to get new technology for classrooms such as classroom multimedia AV and replacing old copy machines. The bond will also fund learning media services and fund updating the datacenter.

Bond Proposition D is to fund the construction of a multi-use event center. If the event center is built, Plano ISD plans on using it for graduations, concerts, robotics and competitions such as volleyball, basketball, UIL and FFA. The event center would save approximately $250 thousand annually. The design for the event center will not be made until after voters have approved it.

The final bond proposition, Proposition E, will cover safety and maintenance at stadiums. This will fund improvements for Clark and Kimbrough stadium. Clark will receive a turf replacement, concession stand renovations, LED safety and security lights, parking lot resurfacing and triple field restrooms. Kimbrough stadium will also receive some of those improvements along with a fence for the stadium.
