Plano won the city championship title after a win against Plano West on Friday night. With a final score of 24-7, Plano clinched their spot in the playoffs. Plano defeated Plano East last week 42-14 on Homecoming. They currently stand 7-2 with one game remaining in the regular season.
As West kicked off the game, Plano’s student section tossed handfuls of baby powder into the air creating a temporary white sky for the much-anticipated rivalry game. The game started off shaky for Plano as West scored the first touchdown only four minutes in. Plano fought back for the remainder of the first quarter, but the clock ran out just eight yards shy of a touchdown for Plano.
Senior kicker Colton Gier made a 36-yard field goal at the start of the second quarter. With four minutes left in the quarter, senior tight end Colby Cantu caught the Plano touchdown. Plano ended the first half in the lead at 10-7.
During the third quarter, Plano’s defense held a steady block on West’s running back Sotonye Jamabo, making room for a second Plano touchdown by junior quarterback Brooks Panhans. Midway in the fourth quarter, sophomore running back Brandon Stephens rushed the four-yard touchdown bringing the final score to 24-7.

Next week’s game will be senior night against Allen Eagles at John Clark Stadium at 7:30 pm.
