Texas is considered one of the most haunted states in the United States, and our Dallas-Fort Worth area could be considered the scariest of them all.
1. The Screaming Bridge
The Legend of the Screaming Bridge in Arlington, Texas, is no joke. The Screaming Bridge at River Legacy Park, visiting the bridge today means having visited or seen the real thing. The truth is, it doesn’t exist anymore. The origins of the Screaming Bridge were that it was located down the road from the one many visit today. It’s said that one night, a group of kids in a car was approaching the bridge when they hit another car, leading the cars to crash into the river, tragically killing them. The road and the bridge have been closed, and now the only accessibility is walking through the park, which a few try at nighttime. But they say people can hear cries for help. People say they see lights on the bridge with a mystic fog giving them strange feelings.
2. Miss Molly’s Hotel
Miss Molly’s hotel in Fort Worth used to be a boarding house for sick children, then the Oasis happened until the 40s, it became a place where gentlemen could visit “working girls,” opening the most tragic era for the hotel. The place has been having a lot of paranormal activity, having scents of strange perfumes, missing items turning up in random places, and old coins on furniture. The ghosts apparently seen are female apparitions of supposed murdered prostitutes who don’t know they are dead. A woman died of lung disease, a ghost child believed to be one of the sick children boarded there.
3. Grand Hotel
The Grand Hotel in downtown Dallas is not a location where you couldn’t say ghosts couldn’t be. One of the most persistent tales where a female apparition around the 1930s, wearing a wedding gown was reported to be seen in the ballroom. Guests and staff of the hotel also reported many nights where it was cold, flickering lights, and a sensation of being watched.
4. Texas Theatre
Located in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, the Texas Theatre is famous for Lee Harvey Oswald being arrested after assassinating President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The Theater is known for ghost activity, with witnesses reporting strange noises. Some claim that spirits of the dead roam around the halls.
5. Plano Tombstone
The Plano tombstone is located in the city’s old cemetery, having reports of shadowy figures roaming around the gravestones at nighttime. One of the most popular legends involves a ghost of a young woman who was buried there, said to be one of the ghosts wandering searching for something or someone. Those who visit claim to hear soft cries.
