This year, the PISD calendar was adjusted to add fall break and the week of October 9-13 students participated in all kinds of activities to fill their time and enjoy a much-needed break from school stress.
One popular fall break activity for students of all grade levels was the Texas State Fair.
“I went to the fair with my boyfriend,” Senior Danielle Bennet said. “It was really fun and a great way to spend my break.”
A popular activity for seniors specifically was college tours. A week off of school r provided the perfect opportunity for students to travel to their prospective future schools and get an in-depth look at where they may want to go next year.
“I got to go to Oklahoma State and the University of Oklahoma which was super cool,” Senior Chelsea Hollopeter said. “Those are definitely my top two, so I’m glad I got to go see them during a regular school week.”
This break also was perfect for students looking at colleges a bit farther away from home.
“I traveled to Miami to see the University of Miami and also went to see Arizona State with my mom,” Sasha Mackoff said. “I’m definitely grateful for the opportunity to go now during fall break and not have to miss any school.”
Friday night football didn’t stop as they played at Lewisville on Friday night. The band, drill team, cheerleaders, athletic trainers, and of course, the players all showed up and showed out for the game despite fall break
“It was weird having a football game on a day we didn’t have school, but also totally fun because I got to sleep in,” Planoette Senior Sergeant Peyton Bambach said.
