Glitter. The one word that describes the entire concert. Located at the House of Blues in Dallas, singer/songwriter, Ke$ha, performed at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26. Although the House of Blues is quaint, that did not stop hundreds of fans from attending. My group and I were seated in the balcony, which, if you were wearing some ‘sleazy’ heels, served to be a relief when you needed to take a break and sit down.
Ke$ha started out with my personal favorite, “Sleazy”, and ended with the top 20 hit, “We R Who We R”. Comparative to the album, Ke$ha was much better live. With the bass and sound effects, she sounded bigger and louder than ever.
One of my favorites on the I Am the Dance Commander album is “Take it Off”. While the album version is great, live is a thousand times better. With hundreds of girls (and guys) screaming at the top of their lungs, any able hearing person would go deaf.
Ke$ha’s costumes were an assortment of glitter, skeletons, glitter, American flags, glitter, and more glitter. Everyone in the house was either covered head to toe in the singer’s signature accessory-and, if they were like me, they would spend hours or even days getting all of it off.
Ke$ha’s non-conformist lyrics had everyone lifting their hands (and alcoholic beverages) in the air. The stage was decked out in props such as: a dinosaur piñata, a real-life Santa, fog machines, and (you guessed it) glitter. Other than the days spent scrubbing tiny silver particles off of my skin, it was one amazing night.
